Should we be changing self or context to improve mental wealth?
A very basic question one can ask oneself when mental health is affected is "should I be trying to change myself, or should I be trying to change my context?" Here, we take context to include the environment as well as relationships with other people.
For instance, let's say the problem is stress at work. You could build resilience and the ability to handle stress better. However, sometimes it's better, easier, or more appropriate to move job rather than undergo personal change. Exploring either option will require careful thought and consideration but getting the best fit for the context is what's likely to be the best action here and both will require compromises and courage of conviction.
