Induce a trance quickly using hypnosis

Relaxation is a really awesome benefit of using hypnosis, however, that's just the tip of the iceberg of how it can be used!

Hypnosis helps us to create a focus on something internal or external and is the process of inducing a trance. To induce a trance using hypnosis we use what's called an Induction and this can be anything from focusing on a spot or object ahead of us to using our imagination of being somewhere or someone else in a place of our choosing imagined or real.

The whole point of inductions is to distract and/or focus the mind on things unrelated to where our current conscious awareness is situated. It could incorporate all our senses to do this or simply one or two such as visual or auditory.

The state we experience when we are in a trance is a little like a state of daydreaming or zoning out, where our mind can go blank or focus intently following the suggestions that are being given, and it can take as little as a few seconds to a few minutes to achieve.

Several tools are used during hypnosis to induce a trance and these can be tailored to the client’s needs. Tailoring is a more advanced skill and so we'll just touch on it here in this course. Some of these tools of hypnosis we use are called Hypnotic suggestions. More on this in our Free mini-course https://www.hypnotherapy.training/learn-hypnosis-30mins!

So we have to know before we start the purpose of why we're using hypnosis. Is it to for example...

  • Distract our minds away from something temporarily e.g., boredom, stress, anxiety, overthinking, managing negative thoughts or emotions, etc
  • Move us towards more positive states eg., relaxation, creativity, making decisions, implementing new habits, etc

It's common to want to solve a problem using hypnosis however it can simply be used to create a temporary change of state in our mind/behaviour.

Here's an example of a simple induction for you to try for yourself by listening to the MP3 Called The Blackboard induction.

As you follow the hypnotic suggestions and instructions, you'll find your mind goes quiet and blank. This is a great example of how quick hypnosis can work to achieve a different state and help us to relax.
